Abstract
The problem of acoustic scattering by a circular shell attracted the attention of investigators long ago. First it was examined in a simplified formulation in [9.1–3], where the motion of the elastic body was described by the equations of thin shell theory, and later in a more general form, using the equations of linear elasticity theory. The formal solution of the problem in series form was given in [9.4]. Since then, hundreds of papers have been published concerning this problem. Reviews of previous work can be found, for example, in [9.5–27].
