Abstract

Laser interferometers are widely used for precise dimensional measurements and for the calibration of tooling machines. The accuracy of these, systems is mainly limited by the uncertainty of the refractive index of the surrounding medium. This paper gives a short survey of prior art techniques and describes the advantages of newly developped methods.
