Abstract

The direct photogeneration of long-lived carriers by perpendicular absorption is examined within the framework of a tight binding model, extended to include the interchain electronic coupling between zig-zag, dimerized polyenic chains. The results of the present model are compared with the experimental data on the pump anisotropy of the photocurrent.
