Abstract
Aggressive and antisocial behavior in adolescence has been the target of extensive discussions in the Scandinavian countries over the past few years (e.g., Sarnecki, 1988). The impression of increasing antisocial and criminal behavior among juveniles has been the main reason for these discussions. According to the criminal police in Finland, increasingly younger persons commit increasingly violent crimes nowadays. The police also admits that only about 10% of the crimes committed by adolescents ever come to the attention of the police. The frequency of crimes against life has been higher in Finland than in other Scandinavian or central European countries (Luntiala, 1988) over the past 40 years.
