Summary
The principal factors influencing corrosion on vehicles in the possession of customers are high atmospheric humidity, high temperature, airborne spray containing salt and frequent exposure to thawing agents and other anti-slip substances spread on the roads.
The test procedure consists primarily of the stationary, thermal and chemical exposure phase conducted in the climatic chamber, the dynamic chemical and mechanical load phase involving actual driving of the vehicle and the final latent incubation phase.
The relative value of the results is principally confirmed by comparison with a control vehicle subjected to the same treatment at the same time; results have proved very satisfactory for the ongoing development of manufacturing processes and vehicle design concepts.
