Abstract
Arthroscopy is very helpful for evaluating the postoperative course following reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). It is particularly useful for establishing the cause of a chronic synovitis and for evaluating graft insufficiency, traumatic or “pseudotraumatic” graft rupture, secondary cartilage lesions, meniscal pathology, and secondary ligament deficiencies. The rare cases of infection following ACL reconstruction are another good indication for arthroscopic evaluation as well as therapeutic arthroscopic irrigation.
