Abstract

The natural history of acute tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is controversial (Balkfors 1982; Beaver et al. 1982; Chambat 1985; Clancy et al. 1982; Fetto and Marshall 1980; Giove et al. 1983; Hejgaard et al. 1984; Hey Groves 1920; Hughston 1983; Larson 1983; McDaniel and Dameron 1980; Noyes et al. 1980 a, 1983 a; Odensten and Gillquist 1985; Rowere and Adain 1983; Satku et al. 1986).
