Summary
The paper describes a procedure for assessing the integrity of defective structures operating in the creep range based on reference stress techniques. Steady state behaviour and modifications to allow for stress redistribution are described. Possible approaches are given for modifying the reference stress method to predict crack growth rates in creep damaged material and to predict the remaining lifetime for continuum damage failure when crack propagation is occurring.
