Numerical Simulation of the Vortex Chain Formation by Vorticity Shedding from a Sphere into the Wake

Abstract

To investigate the formation of three-dimensional vortex structures the laminar compressible flow field around a sphere was numerically simulated. Experimental investigations of the sphere flow were performed e.g. by [1] and are summerized in [2].
