Abstract
We have designed a mini-apparatus for the treatment of diseases and injuries of the hand that takes into consideration the hand’s unique anatomic and functional features. We believe that the use of the minifixator is far less traumatic than open surgery for the treatment of many hand disorders. Furthermore, our methods of treatment make it possible to manage severe hand pathology without the need for the grafting of either skin or bone. When necessary, we perform a lengthening corticotomy through a 4-mm incision, using an appropriately sized osteotome.
