Zusammenfassung

Die klassischen Immunsuppressiva Glukokortikosteroide und Azathioprin hemmen die Zellteilung aller Elemente des Immunsystems sowie die Produktion von Zytokinen. Das ist ein relativ breit gefächertes Spektrum von Wirkungen. Im Gegensatz dazu inhibiert Cyclosporin A (CsA) selektiv die adaptative Immunantwort, vorrangig den T-Zellschenkel, bis zu einem gewissen Grade aber auch davon unabhängig den B-Zellschenkel. Daneben verursacht es dosisabhängig eine Reihe von nicht-immunologischen Nebenwirkungen, deren genaue Kenntnis Voraussetzung für den therapeutischen Einsatz dieses außerordentlich interessanten Medikaments ist.
