Xanthome sind reaktive Proliferationen von Histiozyten - Makrophagen, die Lipide enthalten. Man findet Xanthome der Haut nicht nur im Verlauf von Hyperlipidämien, sondern gelegentlich auch bei normolipämischen Zustandsbildern.
