Abstract

A fundamental step in the estimation of structural system reliability is the identification of failure modes. Some systems can be represented by one dominant mode but, in general, several modes must be identified to ensure an accurate estimation of the system probability of failure. Once modes are identified, standard techniques can be used to evaluate the system reliability.
