Zusammenfassung

Der Gedanke, ein Prostatakarzinom auch zytologisch diagnostizieren zu können, wurde von Ferguson bereits 1930 erstmals aufgegriffen und die Methode 1937 ausführlich beschrieben. Damals erfolgte die Aspiration von Prostatazellen noch auf transperinealem Wege, wobei in 57% der Fälle bereits geeignetes Material gewonnen werden konnte.
