Summary
A Boundary Element Superelement Method (BESEM), based on the Indirect formulation of the Boundary Element Method (IBEM), has been developed. It produces a system of equations, for each boundary region, which can be directly merged with the Finite Element System, thus allowing the use of a combined Finite Element — Boundary Element strategy to model engineering field problems. A few examples of such models are presented. These employ the Boundary Element Superelement Method to discretize the bulk of the problems with regions of Finite Elements to represent those areas where the analysis is more complex or critical.
