Magnetic Domains Observed by Electron Holography

Abstract

This chapter describes a newly developed method for observing magnetic domain structures in thin films. In this method, the wavefront of an electron beam transmitted through the films is displayed as a contour map using electron holography. Adjacent contour lines enclose a constant magnetic flux of h/e (= 4.1 × 10−15 Wb) and are along the in-plane magnetic lines of force.
