Time-Independent Perturbation Theory and Variational Method
It is often the case in the applications of QM that the eigenstates and eigenvalues corresponding to the bound states of a Hamiltonian H are too complicated to be obtained exactly. We will discuss two different procedures to obtain approximate solutions to these problems: Time-independent perturbation theory, and variational method.
