Abstract
Pigment deposition in the spleen leads, in most cases, to a diffuse light brown to dark brown discoloration. In splenic lipofuscinosis in C57BL mice (Crichton et al. 1978 a), the pigment distribution may vary from small foci surrounding the blood vessels at the hilus of the spleen to larger areas occupying most of the spleen and causing gross black discoloration of the organ (Fig. 243).
