Abstract
Intermittency, which can be defined as a binary function in which I(t) = 1 if vortical fluid occupies the point of interest and I(t) = 0 if the fluid state is irrotational, provides one of the fundamental quantities to describe of a turbulent shear flow that is bounded by an irrotational body of fluid.
