Abstract
We briefly review the mechanisms of second order light scattering in liquid helium four as well as some key features and results of calculations of the extinction coefficient. We then review the new experimental results of Ohbayashi and his group emphasizing the measurements of the s-d intensity ratio and the observation of fine structure well above twice the roton frequency. Finally we offer some suggestions concerning the theoretical interpretation of the new experimental results.
