Abstract
Despite much research work, the pathogenesis of vitiligo is still an enigma [36]. The precise mechanism of disappearance of melanocytes resulting in the loss of skin color is unknown. Immunologic factors may play a role as well as genetic neural and chemical factors. It is uncertain whether vitiligo is one disease entity with a specific pathogenesis or if the loss of melanocytes is the final common pathway of several processes. However, during the last past years, definite progresses have been made in the study of this common disorder.
