Localized, Non-Invasive Deep Microwave Hyperthermia for the Treatment of Prostatic Tumors: The First 5 Years

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Recent Results in Cancer Research ((RECENTCANCER,volume 107))

Abstract

The clinical value of local hyperthermia (LH) combined with radiation therapy (RT) is well documented in the treatment of a variety of human tumors (Arcangeli et al. 1983; Corry et al. 1980; Overgaard 1981; Scott et al. 1983; U et al. 1980; Yerushalmi et al. 1986). Clinical treatment of benign tumors with LH has not been reported in the literature except for the trials with patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia carried out by our group (Yerushalmi et al. 1985).
