Electrophysiological and Sonographical Evaluation of Basilar Artery Blood Flow in Patients with Subclavian Steal Mechanism
With the help of transcranial Doppler sonography, a new pulsed ultrasound technique, both flow velocity and flow direction within the basilar artery can be evaluated before, during, and after exercise of the stealing arm. Ischemic brain-stem disturbances due to insufficient basilar blood supply can be detected by brainstem acoustic evoked Potentials (BAEP).
