Zusammenfassung

Der Thymus liegt normalerweise im vorderen Mediastinum, ektope Lagen im Hals oder hinteren Mediastinum wurden beschrieben. Je nach Lage des Organs — orthotop oder ektop — kommen zur Diagnostik pathologischer Prozesse des Thymus eine Vielzahl radiologischer Untersuchungsverfahren in Betracht. Mit Einführung der Computertomographie in die Diagnostik hat sich der Stellenwert der verschiedenen Techniken erheblich geändert, die meisten haben ihre einst zentrale Bedeutung verloren. Die prinzipiell in Betracht kommenden Verfahren seien vor Besprechung der einzelnen Erkrankungen aufgeführt.
