Abstract

We use the Suzuki-Trotter transformation to obtain d+l-dimensional classical representations for the corresponding quantum systems. For one-dimensional disordered quantum XY and Heisenberg chains we demonstrate the usefulness of the transfer matrix method. In two dimensions we had to rely on a Monte Carlo procedure. Results are shown for the XY and a spin-glass model. The applications of the method to fermion systems is discussed.
