Abstract
The synthesis of the boiler model, which was started in Chapter 10, can be further developed into a model of a power generating unit in accordance with Figure 11.1. This represents the highest simulation level. In addition to the steam generator, the PGU incorporates some further heat exchangers, such as the steam condenser, feed-water heaters, air heater, piping, etc., as subsystems. They can all be simulated in a similar manner to the steam generator. For example, a high-pressure feed-water heater with its desuperheating, condensation and cooling zones, is an inverse model of the once-through evaporator with preheating, evaporating and superheating zones as far as the process is concerned.
