Lipoprotein Receptors and Their Ligands: Structure and Function of Apoproteins E and B

  • Conference paper
Molecular Biology of the Arterial Wall

Abstract

Lipoprotein receptors, especially those within the liver, play a central role in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism. Specific apolipoproteins (apo-) serve as the ligands for these receptors (for review, see Mahley and Innerarity, 1983; Mahley et al., 1984; Brown and Goldstein, 1983, 1986).
