Abstract
Considerable interest has been focused on the cellular consequences of shock and ischemia during recent years [1–10]. The reason for a more direct “cellular approach” is the increasing awareness of the fundamental importance of a proper knowledge of the cellular involvement not only for the understanding of basic pathophysiological mechanisms but also for the achievement of optimal regims for shock treatment.
