Abstract
Recently, electron attachment phenomena have been observed on the molecular clusters such as (CO2)N, (COS)N, (H2O)N [1]. For some of these clusters, specific fine structures in mass spectra and critical size for the attachment have been found. The cross section of the electron attachment is found to markedly decrease with the increase of the electron energy. The purpose of this work is to clarify the mechanism of the electron attachment through a microscopic theoretical approach, and to estimate the energy and the cluster size dependences of the attachment cross section.
