Zusammenfassung
Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist eine Überprüfung der Frage, ob sich die beiden Begriffe Angst und Depression in biochemischer Hinsicht differenzieren lassen. Diese Aufgabe ist natürlich besonders schwierig in einem Symposion, dessen Aufgabe es ist herauszuarbeiten, ob eine Differenzierung von Angst und Depression in diagnostischer und therapeutischer Hinsicht überhaupt möglich und sinnvoll ist. Um diesen z. T. auch semantischen Problemen etwas aus dem Weg zu gehen, sollen daher im folgenden die Begriffe Angst und Depression im weitesten möglichen Sinne betrachtet werden. Sind sie im Hinblick auf besondere klinische Diagnosen gebraucht, dann wird dies gesondert vermerkt. Um die Fülle an Daten, die zur möglichen biochemischen Differenzierung von Angst und Depression vorliegen, etwas einzuschränken, soll im wesentlichen auf Befunde am Menschen eingegangen werden. Tierexperimentelle Befunde werden allerdings im Einzelfall auch erwähnt, sind dann aber immer als solche deutlich gekennzeichnet.
