Zusammenfassung
Das Strömungs- und Temperaturfeld, und damit der Wärmeübergang, bei freier Konvektion an umströmten Körpern sind von der Temperaturdifferenz zwischen Körperoberfläche und Umgebung, von der Geometrie und der Orientierung des Körpers im Raum sowie vom umgebenden Fluid abhängig. In den Beziehungen für den Wärmeübergang wird der Einfluß des Fluids, in dem sich der Körper befindet, durch die Prandtlzahl bzw. eine von der Prandtlzahl abhängige Funktion f(Pr) berücksichtigt. Für einen bestimmten Körper, z.B. den horizontalen Zylinder, läßt sich der Geometrieeinfluß durch eine sog. charakteristische Länge in den Kennzahlen erfassen. Mit der „treibenden“ Temperaturdifferenz wird die Rayleighzahl gebildet. Über einen bestimmten Bereich der Rayleighzahl kann der Wärmeübergang bzw. die Nußeltzahl durch empirische Potenzgleichungen der Form
dargestellt werden. Aus theoretischen Lösungen für den laminaren Wärmeübergang an der horizontalen Platte folgt für den Exponenten der Rayleighzahl der Wert 1/5; experimentelle Daten lassen sich dagegen oft mit n=1/4 besser korrelieren. Die Ursache für diese grundsätzliche Abweichung dürfte in der theoretisch nur näherungsweise zu erfassenden Umströmung der seitlichen Begrenzungen zu suchen sein. Experimentelle Untersuchungen deuten ferner darauf hin, daß der Exponent n im turbulenten Bereich dem Grenzwert 1/3 zustrebt. Für n= 1/3 verschwindet, falls C 1 vernachlässigt werden kann, wegen Ra~ l 3 und Nu~1 die charakteristische Länge aus der Beziehung für die Nußeltzahl.
