The inclusion h: W → X of a locally subspace of a locally compact space gives rise to a very useful functor h1: Sh(W) → Sh(X), compare II. 6 and III. 7. In order to generalize this notion let us observe that h is a proper map if and only if W is a closed subspace of X, III.6.
