Acousto-elasticity of a Panel Backed by a Rectangular Cavity

Summary

The problem of low frequency sound transmission and the structural response of a panel backed by a rectangular cavity is solved by a modal analysis. The matrix equations possessing gyroscopic coupling is reduced to a standard symmetric eigenvalue problem, the solution of which yields the natural frequencies and modes of the coupled acousto-elastic system. Special orthogonal relations of the eigenvectors of the gyroscopic system facilitate the response analysis.
