Abstract

Business and competition force companies to automate their production processes and to increase the product quality. Computers used for the control of the production process improve the productivity and increase the quality of the product. The computer can be applied to the following different production areas:

CAD Computer Aided Design CADR Computer Aided Drafting CAE Computer Aided Engineering CAP Computer Aided Planning CAM Computer Aided Manufacturing CAQ Computer Aided Quality Assurance CAM Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Generally stated the computer supports the production processes and improves these via high performance hardware, algorithms, logic and the processing of information. During the last years hardware and software performance has been increasing steadily. This trend has helped to promote the computer as a tool for design, planning, manufacturing and quality assurance.
