Abstract

Quinones are important participants in respiratory and photosynthetic electron-transfer chains. Some are found tightly associated with individual redox proteins/ while others are considered to be free in the bilayer membrane, where/ as a pool/ they serve as electron or hydrogen carriers between specific sites on different proteins within the membrane.
