Abstract

Not many years ago the use of computers in any role in the undergraduate laboratory was thought to be innovative. Indeed, until recently it was standard for the computer to play some role, but its use was still regarded as important enough to be pointed out as an indication that the laboratory was ‘up to date’. Today the computer should be pervasive in all areas of laboratory teaching, so much so that it should be considered commonplace by students.
