Abstract
This paper considersthe “Arrowian” inventory holding motives in the Finnish manufacture over the period 1975–1982. We focus on the analysis of the capital cost, inflation, and expectation factors. The main question is whether the investment behaviour of firms is mainly due to transactionary and speculative motives or due to buffer motives. The rather controversial role of real capital cost as an inventory investment determinant is analyzed, too.
