Abstract
The rational designing of a workplace requires procedures and methods of planning which permit the short-time development, assessment and optimization of alternative design solutions according to technical, economic and ergonomic criteria. A programme system for the computer supported designing of assembly workplaces and a system for the dimensional designing and the planning of movement facilities (Videosomatography) are already being used with success. Further advantages are expected by integrating the planning systems in using CAD-systems.
