Zusammenfassung

Warum wird ein Mensch süchtig? In erster Linie bedarf es einer Suchtdroge, also eines Umweltfaktors. Außerdem werden die verschiedensten psychischen Traumen und Streßfaktoren angeschuldigt. Aber nicht jeder wird süchtig, der einen potentiell suchterzeugenden Stoff konsumiert hat oder psychischen Traumen ausgesetzt war. Depressive Patienten, die man früher gelegentlich mit Opiumkuren behandelte, wurden kaum je süchtig. Der Großteil der Verbraucher verwendet Analgetika und Barbiturate maßvoll und bei der ubiquitären Verbreitung von Alkoholkonsum und gesellschaftlichem Trinkzwang ist es eigentlich verwunderlich, daß die überwiegende Mehrheit der Konsumenten nicht der Sucht verfällt.
