Closed Form Solutions for Cost Optimized Reliability
Cost optimized reliability criteria are used to derive load factors for the acceptance of structures. Three cases are considered. These are for acceptance based on design computation, for acceptance based on load tests of a limited sample of prototype structures, and for acceptance based on a proof test of every structure that is accepted. The statistical uncertainties of loads and strengths are modelled as Weibull distributions, and closed form solutions are obtained for all three cases considered.
