Probabilistic Crack Propagation Using Cycle-by-Cycle Technique

  • Conference paper

Summary

The cycle-by-cycle technique for predicting crack growth under spectrum loading is described and the statistical variability in constant amplitude crack growth rate is taken into account in a prediction of fatigue life for a wing panel. The result shows that the variance in fatigue life depends linearly on the assumed correlation time for the random process which models the statistical variability in crack growth rate.
