Abstract
Digital computers are now present in virtually all Radiology departments. One of the first places they appeared was in Nuclear Medicine in the late sixties. Quantifying various physiological functions studied by nuclear techniques was the main use; imaging was a secondary consideration. Another early application of computers in Radiology departments was to handle business functions. Information systems for managing scheduling, film library functions and reporting appeared in the late sixties and early seventies.
