The Role of Surgery in the Treatment of Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung

While the importance of resection/surgery in the treatment of carcinoma of the lung is fully acknowledged, surgical therapy in the presence of a small cell carcinoma of the lung is vigorously disputed. There seem to be various reasons for this dispute.
