Biochemical Short-Term Predictive Assay: Results of Correlative Trials in Comparison to Other Assays

  • Chapter
Predictive Drug Testing on Human Tumor Cells

Part of the book series: Recent Results in Cancer Research ((RECENTCANCER,volume 94))

Abstract

Various prediction test systems for human tumors have been developed during the past decades (Dendy 1976; Kaufmann 1980, 1983; Possinger and Ehrhardt 1983; Kaufmann and Kubli 1983; Salmon 1980; Volm and Mattem 1982). In cancer chemotherapy the availability of an assay which makes an appropriate selection of treatment for the individual patient feasible has long been dreamed of. General informations on an in vitro short-term predictive assay (STPA) will be presented. Besides these basic data, results of correlative trials of this assay are compared to results of other assays involving human tumors.
