Conference paper
Part of the NATO ASI Series book series (volume 11)

The basic purpose of an applications laboratory is to examine assembly robotic applications prior to committing them to our production lines.

The paper will describe how the laboratory was established, how it is staffed and funded. It will discuss some of the applications that have been completed and demonstrate them on video tape. The paper will also describe how we pass on the knowledge learned by describing the Design for Robotic Assembly Course which is run each month for both the Manufacturing and Development staffs.

The paper will close with a summary of the main objectives of some of the leassons learned.
