Abstract
The regular menstrual cycle is dependent on a well balanced interaction of the central nervous system, the hypothalamus, the pituitary and the ovary. The whole system has to be regarded as a functional unit. It is well known that emotional factors may influence the integrity of this functional system. Very limited information on the quantity and character of the psychogenic input that influences the endocrine system is as yet available.
