Electron-Phonon Interaction in Chevrel-Phase Compounds

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Topics in Current Physics ((TCPHY,volume 32))

Abstract

In this chapter, experiments on the electron-phonon interaction in Chevrel-phase compounds (CPC) and a theoretical discussion of their results will be presented. We will particularly discuss measurements of the isotope effect [8.1–4] and tunneling spectroscopy experiments [8.5,6]. These investigations have been performed in order to obtain information about the strength of the electron-phonon interaction in CPC, and to answer the question of whether there are phonon modes that couple particularly strongly to the electrons in these compounds.
