Abstract

One important advantage of constructing polarographic oxygen sensors (POS) in the laboratory is the potential of custom-designing a sensor to suit the specific requirements of an experimental design or apparatus. The final dimensions of the POS, its approximate output, and ability to withstand submergence and high hydrostatic pressure can be controlled. In addition the cost is reduced, an important consideration if many POS of different design are required.
