Abstract

The thoracic spine features the insertion of the ribs on its transverse processes and participates with the sternum in the formation of the thoracic cage. It is the posterior pillar of the thorax and is subdivided by the ribs into two parts, the posterior extrathoracic and anterior intrathoracic regions.
