Abstract
Layered superconductors provide an excellent model system for the study of the flux pinning by inhomogeneities. We consider superconducting films consisting of stacked layers … N/S/N/S/N …, where S is a superconducting and N a normal metal. The increase of the critical current density jc, which is observed experimentally when the external magnetic field H is parallel to the layers |1|, can be explained by the pinning of the flux lines in the N layers or at interfaces.
